Unfortunately I find myself in a position where I have a lot of personal debt that I can not pay (about £40,000). I am thinking of declaring bankruptcy as I do not own my house. However, i am a police office. Can I go through the bankrutpcy procedure in my position? Should I be speaking to someone about it first? The last thing I want to do is jeopardise my career or worse still my pension.
