be you need to consider a HD-PVR or Capture card. When I think of HD PVRs, I think of a internal hard drive (self contained storage space), and no need to use a computer for RAM, frame rate, or processor speed/power. If you consider Hauppauge, Dazzle, Ezcap, Easycap, etc then will notice that they all use the processor (at least dual core), RAM, and computer (MAC or PC) internal storage space (hard drive or HDD). The only real capture card that is marketed as such is Blackmagic.
