Staying in Coconut Grove - Comments?

The wife and I will be heading down to Florida early December to spend some time at the parks around Orlando and then a day & a half (Friday evening, all day Saturday, and depart Sunday morning) in Miami before jumping on a cruise. We're thinking about staying in Coconut Grove and were looking for any comments for and against.

We've been to Miami once before for a few days and stayed in South Beach. During that trip we did make a relatively brief night time visit to Coconut Grove which we found it pretty lively but we didn't have a lot of time to explore. This trip, we were thinking of spending Friday evening & Saturday morning exploring Coconut Grove before heading over to South Beach Saturday evening to walk around. We're not really into clubbing but rather just walking around, checking out the scene, window shopping, etc.
