Driving from Algonquin Park Ontario to western Michigan

We will have two nights (three days) to drive from western Algonquin Park, Ontario to southwestern Michigan. At first we thought we'd go through Sault Ste Marie and down through the Upper Peninsula of Michigan but finally looked at a map and that's a long way to drive in such a short time. Then thought of driving south, by Georgian Bay - but I would love to find a good route from there to western Michigan that doesn't go really close to Toronto and the superhighways - and would still get me there on time. Any suggestions?: Where do we spend those two nights? Thanks.
